季の移り変わり
いよいよ10月。昨晩から強い雨が降り続いている。
今年は例年より日の経つのが早い。出張が多いこともあるが、気づくと日曜日が訪れ「あぁ、もう一週間が経ってしまったのか」と何度も感じてきた。9月も下旬になれば薪ストーブを焚くのが常であるのに、今シーズンはまだそこまでの寒さになっていない。お盆の頃に出回るはずの”みょうが”が今頃大量に店に並んでいたりするから、秋であるのにまだしっかり夏が居座っているような気もする。最近の気候はどこか妙と思うが、どの辺りから異常気象と言えるのか？その線引きさえ困難になっている。
そんな状況であっても庭の樹木は静かに色づき、葉を落とし、紅葉のクライマックスへと向かいはじめる。（写真は少しずつ紅葉する多肉植物。 これから真っ赤に紅葉していく）
清冽だった緑の葉が暖色に変化していく様、そこに赤い実など見つけると途端に幸せな心持ちになっている。栗やドングリといった秋の実りは、人であるよりも前に私達は動物であるという、大事なサインを発する存在になっているのかもしれない。
まだ暖房の要らない気温であるが、”季”分転換に今日は仕事部屋の新たな薪ストーブ エンライトに火をいれる。今シーズンの薪はドングリの母であるナラである。ほっこりした暖かさとともに贅沢な甘い香りが部屋いっぱいに広がっていく。暖かさとは裏腹に、冬へ入る前には誰しも少なからず感じるあの何とも言えない緊張感が一瞬だけかすめていった。
