秋の終 黄金色の唐松
朝からよく晴れている。ふと見上げると、唐松が黄金色に紅葉していた。
連日のように、空から唐松の針のような葉が、まるで小雪が舞うように降ってくる。黒いデッキは掃いても掃いても黄金色の葉でいっぱいになる。それでも私は時間があるときは、一日に２回掃き掃除をする。実家で暮らしていた頃、敷地内の西側にある稲荷様へのアプローチは、秋になると銀杏の葉で黄色に染まった。それを朝と晩に掃き清めるのが、我が家の子供の役目であった。子供ながらに、まとまったら掃けばいいじゃないかと抵抗したこともあった。しかし、毎日掃き清めることが重要なのだった。落ち葉が集まると、たまに焚き火をして祖父が焼き芋を作ってくれた。軽井沢には、銀杏の樹はほとんどない。秋を伝える金木犀の香りもない。しかし、私は落ち葉を掃いている。火も焚いている。それだけは変わらないことに気づいた。
